The Modern 5%: What Next.js, Webflow, and Framer Adoption Reveals About Staffing Firm Readiness

In a cleaned dataset of 1,405 bottom-revenue staffing firms, only 51 of the 1,045 with identifiable technology have websites built on modern, AI-ready frameworks: Next.js (25), Webflow (19), Framer (3), Nuxt (3), and React (1). That’s 4.9% of assessed firms — a vanishingly small minority.

But this 5% outperforms the rest on nearly every metric we measured.

Webflow sites average just 1.00 brain-cues violations per firm, compared to the assessed-firm average of 2.11. They have the highest CRM adoption rate at 52.6% — more than double the custom/unknown rate of 22.6%. Next.js sites average 1.08 violations — well below the assessed average — and represent some of the most technically sophisticated websites in the dataset. Harper May, one of the highest-visibility firms in the index (score: 41), runs on Next.js.

What makes these platforms different? Three things.

First, rendering quality. Next.js, Nuxt, and similar frameworks produce server-rendered pages that load fast and present clean HTML to crawlers — whether those crawlers are Googlebot, Bing, or an AI agent scraping for entity data. Custom-built PHP sites often serve messy, JavaScriptdependent HTML that AI systems can’t reliably parse.

Second, built-in structure. Webflow and Framer generate semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchies, alt text prompts, and Open Graph metadata by default. These are the signals AI search uses to categorize and cite sources.

Third, design quality. Modern frameworks come with modern design systems. The 1.00 violation average for Webflow isn’t just about code — it’s about the design discipline these platforms encourage: clear CTAs, visible value propositions, prominent social proof.

For staffing firms considering a website overhaul, the message is clear: the platform you choose determines more than aesthetics. It determines whether AI systems can read, understand, and recommend your business.
