In an industry built on relationships, the vast majority of bottom-revenue firms can't even track them digitally.
Wealth management is, at its core, a relationship business. Clients trust you with their life savings. They expect personalized attention, timely communication, and proactive advice. Yet the WMBR – Wealth Managers – Bottom Revenue index reveals that 76.2% of analyzed firms have no detectable CRM system.
No HubSpot. No Salesforce. No Mailchimp. No system to track leads, automate follow-ups, or segment client communications.
Of 126 analyzed firms, only 27 (21.4%) have a detectable CRM or marketing automation platform. Among those that do: HubSpot leads with 12 detections (some in combination with other tools) Mailchimp appears on 8 firms Calendly was found on 4 firms during re-verification — indicating scheduling automation even where no traditional CRM is present Constant Contact serves 4 firms Salesforce/Pardot, Keap/Infusionsoft, and ActiveCampaign each serve 1 firm
Another 3 firms (2.4%) showed weak scheduling signals classified as "unknown" — they may have some form of automation but it's not clearly a CRM.
Firms with a CRM show a 70.4% recent activity rate, compared to 64.6% for firms without — a directional difference of 5.8pp. With only 27 CRM-equipped firms, this gap is suggestive but not statistically definitive.
CRM systems don't directly affect AI search rankings. But they're the backbone of the digital marketing stack that does: CRM-driven email campaigns generate content engagement signals, marketing automation tools produce landing pages that AI can crawl, and lead tracking enables firms to measure and optimize their digital funnel.
Without a CRM, firms are flying blind — and their websites reflect it.
For a sub-$1M revenue wealth management firm, a full Salesforce implementation is overkill. But HubSpot's free tier, Mailchimp's basic plan, or even a simple scheduling tool like Calendly can transform a static website into an active, measurable marketing channel. The 27 firms in this index that have taken this step are already ahead.
